communications Officer (2-year contract, renewable)
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and implement the organization’s communication program plans and activities
- Create engaging content for offline and online media (press releases, articles, posts etc.) that align with the organization’s brand guidelines and resonate with the target audience
- Maintain and update the organization’s website content, ensuring accuracy, relevance and an optimal user experience
- Assist in organizing media events such as press conferences, stage events and other related activities
- Assist in managing external media related parties for specific projects, trips or communication activities
- Monitor and prepare report on media coverage, compile reports and press clippings related to programs and events.
- Track digital and social media trends and engagement, responding and escalating as necessary
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for content creation for various communications channels, both online and offline.
- Prepare drafts for communication materials, including press releases, reports and presentations
- Maintain contact databases.
- Provide general administrative support.
- Any other tasks as assigned by Department/Unit head
Requirements:
- Degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or a related field, with at least 5 years’ relevant working experience. Candidates with less experience will be considered as Communications Officer II.
- Proven experience in managing website and social media platforms for an organization or brand.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills to liaise with internal staff, external partners, volunteers, and media contacts.
- Familiarity with basic design principles (Canva and Photoshop) and communications tools software (e.g. content management systems, and social media platforms) is a plus.
- Excellent command in spoken and written English & Chinese including Putonghua.
- Proficient in computer applications including MS Office and Chinese word processing.
- Identification with Oxfam’s mission and vision is a must.
