Agricultural Investment of Thailand: Opportunities and Challenges for Poverty Reduction in the Mekong Region

The book takes a closer look at the development and expansion of several agricultural sub-sectors in the past two decades, in which agribusiness companies have played a significant role in Thailand as well as in expanding into neighboring countries. Through in-depth field work and case studies, the author uncovers the impacts of investment on local communities especially smallholder farmers and discusses recommendations that help eliminate the risks of investment and provide opportunities for the poor.

The report was written by Chanida Chanyapate Bamford and translated into Chinese by the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies of the Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences.
